Captain's log
Thank you all for a great fishing season. I hope everyone had a great time! Kristy Lynn successfully had the most trips of any fishing organization on Lake Michigan. Also start planning ahead for next year, because we have already started taking reservations. Feel free to call me or email me at Tnied680@aol.com. I would like to thank everyone for coming out this year and I look forward to seeing you all next year. Until then, take care.

Welcome to the Sports fishing Season!
As the owner and operator for 30 years of Kristy Lynn Charters, I would like to note some of the highlights from last season and share with you some of the items I'm looking forward to in the upcoming year. I hope within our website that you find everything you're looking for. Feel free to drop us a line and give us some feed back on what you think.

Overview - Kristy Lynn
Fishing early on proved interesting for the Kristy Lynn, Mainly as the result of a relatively mild winter , Lake Temperatures in early spring warmed quicker than normal and fishing was somewhat inconsistent for the month of March and April. However, what made last spring so amazing was the incredible size of the Coho salmon that were caught out of the southern third of the lake. While typical early season Coho will average 2-6 lbs, by mid April we were catching Coho averaging 5-10 lbs. and by the middle part of May, the average was over 9 lbs.!! Numerous personal and boat records were set. What the spring lacked in numbers of fish caught was well offset by the size of the fish that were taken. Around the last week of June, the action really heated up off North Point Marina as huge schools of Kings, Steelheads, and Lake Trout made their way into our waters. Heavy mixed bag catches were taken almost daily by the Kristy Lynn throughout the summer months with some of the best mid-season fishing we've seen in years! Steelhead action was exceptionally good in late July and August. Favorable weather patterns and excellent stock returns, combined with healthy bait-fish (alewife-shad) population attribute to the fantastic summer fishing. Good to excellent fishing action continued into the fall and we were treated to a decent run of Kings and Brown Trout. While weather played the biggest factor, fishing last fall was much improved over the past several of years. All in all, the fishing season proved to be a huge success!!

Looking forward to next year!
Based on last season's results and favorable stocking reports we're looking forward to some great fishing! While it's anybody's guess if the Coho's will be as big this season as they were last season. The immature Coho's that were caught this past fall were more than double their normal size and may be an indication of another fantastic Coho year! Look for action to heat up for Coho's and Steelhead's around the last week of March. Fishing during the mid-summer month's has been the most consistent over the past couple of seasons, and will most likely prove the same. I'm expecting to see heavy mixed catches of Salmon and Trout. Don't be surprised to see numerous "Grand Slam" catches consisting of all 5 species brought in throughout the season. As with past years weather and Bait fish movements will be the triggering factors. Fall fishing again has the potential to be favorable due to the predicted returns of mature fish.
